Authenticating with Spark Ads on TikTok

Feature Purpose

Similar to boosting a post on instagram, Spark Ads allow you to leverage TikTok posts for paid content to help you extend your reach beyond followers. As a brand, you can publish any of your TikTok posts into Spark Ads but when working with influencers, you will have to obtain authorization to use their posts for Spark Ads. Luckily, Lickly handles this authorization for you, so you don't have to chase after your influencers for authorization weeks later. So let's dive into how you can request Spark Ads authorization.

Step-by-Step Process

  1. After logging in, you will land on your campaign list page
  2. Click on the campaign where you would like to continue your outreach 
  3. Click on Influencers in the sub-navigation
  4. Click on the influencer who has accepted the opportunity and associated documents
  5. In the right side panel, ensure your Platform and desired content is updated to match the required number of assets for each format
    • For example, when selecting Instagram, you can specify the amount of Reels, Stories and Posts individually.
  6. Once updated, you'll be able to see a summary of all channels below the pricing suggestions, under Content count
  7. If all content amounts look good, use the Agreement dropdown in the upper right corner to select Accept, or use the Accept button at the bottom of the email composer.
  8. A modal will appear to confirm your agreement, and to continue to the content guidelines and direction
  9. The number of assets will appear in a collapsible menu, with a toggle below the list of assets to "Request TikTok Spark Ad authorization"
  10. When toggled on, you can choose from the following timeframes that will grant you authorization to use the content for Spark Ads.
    • 7 days
    • 30 days
    • 60 days
    • 365 days
  11. Once selected, click Update & Close at the bottom of the modal
  12. When complete, the influencer will be able to view your request for Spark Ads authorization within the TikTok Invite Link.
  13. Once they post the video through the TikTok Invite link, the revisions tab will update to show a preview of the linked video. If they did not upload through the invite link, simply link the post in the field provided and click Confirm.
  14. Once the video is linked with TikTok One, then you will be able to generate a Spark Ads Code, which will be used to create your spark ad.

Can I get authorization to boost posts on Instagram?

You definitely can — but not through the Lickly platform. Instagram has a very similar method but in this case, the influencer is responsible for providing you authorization first. If you are looking to get authorization from an influencer for an instagram post, we suggest sending them these instructions from Instagram. Can an influencer deny Spark Ads authorization?

Technically, yes they can. However, we recommend including any mention of Spark Ads, or boosted posts early in the agreement process to ensure there aren't any surprises once deadlines start approaching. Including a clause in any contracting documents is a great way to set expectations and obtain their signature to ensure they understand the terms of your agreement upfront.
